LinkedIn’s Feed Is Out of Hand
LinkedIn’s feed is increasingly cluttered with garbage. Is there anything we can do to take it back to the basics?
Microsoft’s LinkedIn can be a somewhat valuable tool to stay connected to your current and former co-workers and others who are relevant to your professional network. That much has always been true.
It can also be somewhat valuable when trying to seek white-collar employment. It’s almost worthless for service, blue-collar or even low-level admin jobs, but maybe that was never the target audience.
LinkedIn Learning, once one learns to navigate and filter out the fluff, can also help with professional development, although certificates of completion aren’t exactly worth much.
However, the feed function of LinkedIn is a total and utter mess.
I’ve known for a while that my news feed was a mindless jumble of my connections reacting or commenting on someone else’s posts. Yet, I kept visiting a few times a week and scrolling, until I realized that I got little to nothing of value out of it.
Sometimes, I’d see original content by a bonafide connection. A former co-worker announcing a new job or promotion, that they’re hiring, seeking employment or a post about their current venture. These things, I find valuable.
