I’m a progressive liberal who supports the Second Amendment. You have questions. I have answers.

I have a secret to confess: I am a progressive liberal who supports responsible firearm ownership under the Second Amendment.

I didn’t always feel this way. For years my feelings on firearms went back and forth from indifferent to opposed. I went through the usual reactions and emotions when mass shootings happened. Sadness. Rage. “Do something!”

I am still cynical on conservative politicians using “thoughts and prayers” as an out to taking any action or showing any real empathy. I am also cynical on the fact that “do something” has turned into a never ending stream of garbage proposals from clueless liberal politicians. Most of all, I am cynical on the fact that both sides keep us divided by arguing to the extreme, unfettered access vs. a total ban, when a vast majority of us want neither.

While I still support effective regulations, I do not support a gun ban, and fully support a right to own firearms for personal and home protection.

So how exactly did this happen?

Revelation #1: the Second Amendment is never going away.
