I touched on it in this very story. In Matthew 19:11–12, the author quotes Jesus speaking in favor of celibacy. Paul doubled down on it in 1 Corinthians 7. In both cases, the speaker says that celibacy is preferred, and marriage is a backup for those who are unable to remain celibate. But in both cases, the writers were coming from the perspective of someone who believed that Jesus would be returning in their own lifetime, so take that for what it's worth.
