How I Broke Writer’s Block

It’s different for everyone, but here’s how I pumped out an essay a day for the last week.

Four stories in six months was not where I wanted to be when July arrived.

But there I was: another week browsing Medium, reading other stories and essays. Clicking on those productivity pieces from publications like The Startup. But producing nothing.

I tried so many different things to no avail.

I tried logging ideas in Notion. They go nowhere.

I tried writing down random thoughts and ideas in Google Keep. Nothing.

I even started a few freehand stories in Medium itself. Quickly abandoned.

Suddenly I’m publishing this piece, my fifth in five days.

What gives?

For me, it started by watching a documentary on Hulu called Kurt Vonnegut: Unstuck in Time.

You see, Vonnegut was one of my favorite writers when I was younger. As a younger member of generation X or an older millennial, depending on who you ask, I know that sounds cliche. But it is what it is.
